Scholarship

Sidley Prelaw Scholars are college juniors and seniors who receive financial support to cover both tuition in a commercial LSAT preparation course and law school application fees for as many as seven accredited law schools (up to $2,500 total). The Scholars are chosen from a variety of undergraduate colleges, including Ivy League schools, historically Black Colleges and Universities, and state schools. Read more here.

Bloodsaw Scholarship Attorney Tracey A. Bloodsaw is offering a $500 college scholarship. for Corona-East Elmhurst (NY) residents who will be college freshmen or sophomore in the fall of 2008. Those interested must apply by May 30, 2008. Read more here.

Law School Wait Lists

On May 27, UCLA’s Daily Bruin published an interesting article on graduate school admission wait lists.  Below is a summary of the parts of the article that deal with law school.

According to Rob Schwartz, the assistant dean of admissions for UCLA School of Law, a few hundred people could be on the waiting list, and about 30 to 40 students of those students will be accepted.  In the article Dean Schwartz said, ‘The most helpful thing (students) can do is express their interest (in) coming here in writing, so we can get it in their file and our admissions committee can see it. . . . Knowing someone wants to come is very helpful. . . . They can send supplemental information too, but they should be careful to make sure it’s going to add something to their file.”
