FIRST SEMESTER-A ROAD MAP, EXPLAINED

The article First Semester-Roadmap details one way an entering law student can prepare and organize the first four months of his or her legal education so that that student has the greatest chance of succeeding during the first semester.

Law school's first semester is very important because it lays the foundation for the rest of your legal education. This does not mean that you cannot make changes after your first semester and improve your law school results. You can, but it is more difficult to make changes to your learning and study habits at the beginning of the second semester than it is at the beginning of the first semester; and it is more difficult to change your learning and study habits at the beginning of the third semester than it is at the beginning of the second semester, and so on.

The roadmap is not going to work for everyone, but it is provided as a guide to help you realize that from Day 1 you should begin thinking how to organize your activities and study patterns for the semester. Furthermore, as the semester moves along and you learn what works for you and what does not, think about and make the necessary changes to address your specific needs.

Remember every person is an individual, and every person is going to have different needs when it comes to how to best prepare to excel in law school. If what you are doing seems to really connect with you, do it that way even if others are not until someone whose advice is reliable can demonstrate to you that there is a better way to do it.
