CAREER FLEXIBILITY

On one of the law school discussion boards, a prospective law student made the following comment about his or her career.

“So far I got into two schools. I really like the T4's Boston location and facilities, but at the same time the T2 (NYC area) is SIGNIFICANTLY higher in the ratings. It's Tier4 vs. Tier2. I want to get an education that is flexible enough to allow me to change jobs, locations and careers in law.
Which do you think, all things held equal, is better?”

I responded to this prospective law student as follows:
First, finishing top 10% of your class will have a bigger impact on your career mobility than which school you go to.

Second, where do you plan to practice? The school in the state where you plan to practice is probably going to provide more networking opportunities.

Third, what you do with your career is based more on your motivation than anything else.
