PRO BONO COURSE OPPORTUNITIES

Pro Bono is short for pro bono publico, which in Latin it means for “for the public good.

The American Bar Association’s Model Rule 6.1 states: “A lawyer should aspire to render at least (50) hours of pro bono publico legal services per year. . . . without fee or expectation of fee to . . . persons of limited means.”

With the ABA’s pro bono requirement in mind, LawBoost will provide its three-day online law school preparatory course for free to thirty (30) entering law students.  This course is conducted by email over a three-day period, and does not require a student to be online at a specific time.  The four dates the course is available are

  • March 15-17
  • March 17-19
  • March 22-24
  • March 24-26

For those interested in being considered for the course, please submit a short letter of 400 words or less that provides the following information:

  • Current school and what law school the student will be attending in the fall.
  • Why the student should be selected for the LawBoost’s pro bono course.
  • Which dates are the student’s top two choices if the student is selected.

The deadline for the letters of interest is February 28, 2010, and decisions will be made by March 5, 2010.  Please send the letters to Michael Santana at michael.santana@lawboost.com.
